Crochet & Pom Pom Beach Coverup

I am missing Lagos today! It was two weeks ago that I was there, and it was a dream place. The sun was HOT though. For the gorgeous rocky beaches, I paired this black crochet and pom pom beach coverup with a Panama hat, and a new straw tote that I bought in the local town. Eye protection is important too, and my clear framed mirrored sunnies completed the look. I think that a cute beach coverup is a staple in any woman’s closet. They come in handy more than you might think!

In terms of the beach, the seashells were on point! Had so much fun looking for shells and even made a friend doing so.

French Lemons

Is there anything more French-countryside than a lemon print? I didn’t think so. I bought this lemon print (trend alert!) peplum (trend alert!) top in the spring, and I have enjoyed wearing it all summer. It’s cotton and light, and goes nicely with jeans, white denim, or cut-off shorts. I paired this “fresh” look with white denim and my favorite espadrilles (which, by the way, I have had for 5 years!) They are by Steve Madden but Stuart Weitzman also makes a similar pair. I topped off the look with my favorite clear-framed mirror sunnies and gold bar bracelet.

Cotton Candy Coat

It’s springtime in February! How glorious has this entire weekend been? This coat was a bit of a trend splurge last fall, which I don’t usually recommend, but it’s just so FUN! Last year’s teddy bear coat has made it to a second season! I wore it out on Friday night, and my girlfriends called it a “Carrie Bradshaw coat”. A few boys told me “your coat is…wonderful” and “your coat looks like cotton candy”. I loved this description so much that it is the new namesake of this post. My boyfriend thinks this coat is silly (re: Man Repeller ha) but I tell him that I make the streets of NYC interesting and fun and give something to delight the people outside! I paired the coat with a favorite pair of gray stretchy skinny jeans, my black Rebecca Minkoff envelope cross-body bag, my go-to tortoise-shell sunnies, and brand new burgundy Chloe moto boots (completely obsessed with these). I love the femininity of the coat, especially when paired with the edgier and more rugged moto boots.

Leather Jacket Weather

After a few unseasonably warm 70 degree days, NYC is back to being spring and chilly. Chaussures Adidas Yeezy 330 Boost This leather jacket is probably the nicest item of clothing I own (not including shoes!) I bought it last fall from Maje- one of my favorite designers of all time. Adidas Yeezy Boost 350 Acheter I was attracted to the motorcycle style, the gorgeous and unique shoulder stitching detail, and the soft lamb leather. However, it took two separate trips to the Bleecker Street store before I bit the bullet. Adidas Yeezy Boost 350 V2 Pas Cher I am so glad that I did, it is an investment piece and a closet staple, and I have already gotten so much wear from it. Leather jackets are functional, too- great for fall and spring transitional weather. They are also great for traveling and flying, and I always get complements on it when I wear it. I paired this jacket with a black scarf, tortoiseshell sunnies I bought off the street last weekend, my favorite metallic bucket bag (another favorite designer piece), white skinny jeans, and edgy Rebecca Minkoff calf hair wedge booties that I treated myself to for my 27th birthday. When I was in college, skinny jeans were just becoming super trendy. It’s fun to watch fashion shift, as skinny jeans are still trendy but now at a higher ankle length than a few years ago. Belted Dress

The days are getting longer, and the sun is shining a little brighter these days. Warm weather fashion is my favorite. I bought this dress back in college for my graduation weekend (5 years ago!) so I thought the timing was appropriate to wear it again for a blog post. It goes to show you, classic styles stick around. I love the speckled white and orange print, the feminine front ruffling, and the white wicker belt. I paired this dress with classic white slingbacks. They are very comfortable, and great for spring. This look almost feels Parisian-chic to me- maybe it’s the balcony!

Blizzard Bunny

Many East Coasters had a pretty exciting weekend. We were all pummeled with Blizzard Jonas! I used the storm as an opportunity to stay in my apartment ALL day and relax. I lit a candle, made a giant bowl of macaroni and cheese (I never cook, if that even counts as cooking!), and watched the entire season of Aziz Ansari’s “Master of None”. I only had one chocolate emergency, but my roommate Sam saved me. In the morning, I woke up to sunshine, and several feet of snow. It was time to venture outside and see what was happening in New York! I bundled up in my favorite parka, warm snow boots, and edgy sunnies. I get complements on this coat all of the time- it’s a really pretty olive green / brown with a fox fur hood. It’s always a challenge to look cute in really cold weather. The key to finding a flattering heavy duty winter coat is to find something that is incredibly warm (I love down) but also slightly fitted. Ear muffs can also be surprisingly elegant and functional. Washington Square Park was full of children building snowmen and throwing snowballs. There were very few cars on the road, and it was kind of a magical weekend.

I love New York!
