New York Athletic Club Jingle Ball

I have been a little behind on my posts because the past few weeks have been pretty much all consumed with wrapping up Yoga School, but I am pleased to say that I was still able to dress up for a few fun holiday parties and I will share the looks now and in a few upcoming posts. I had my eye on this “snowflake” inspired Alice & Olivia dress for a while, and when my friend Jeni invited me to this party, it was the perfect excuse to dress up! I love dressing up, and I love holiday parties as an excuse to wear anything sparkly. I love the nude underlay of this dress, with the mesh beading on the top. There also is one layer of tulle. I really felt like a princess!

The dress was enough of a statement piece on its own, so I kept my accessories simple: my classic Louboutin “Decolettes”, a skinny black headband, and minimal jewelry.

Irridescent Pink Sequined Dress

Glitter!!! I had such an amazing night tonight at the QVC FFANY event, which featured a shoe salon where proceeds benefited cancer research. The evening started off with cocktails and appetizers, a shoe photography station for a shoe contest (amazing), and a photo booth. The shoe salon had various designers offering their shoes at half off. Guilty…I bought an amazing pair of boots! I attended the event as a guest of my collaboration partner Abbey Liebman and Bettye Muller shoes. Highlights included hearing Sam Edelman speak, and seeing Alexandre Birman win designer of the year. I even got to congratulate him on the way out 🙂 Oh! And randomly seeing Mandy Moore in the shoe salon. Girlfriend likes shoes just like the rest of us!

About a week ago, I saw this sequin and pailette Halston Heritage dress and I fell in love with it. I had no where to wear it, but I knew that I would someday! That day was tonight haha. The pink was perfect for a gala in support of cancer research. The work on this dress is exquisite. It includes a mixture of both sequins and pailettes in ombre shades of pink which fade from big (at the top of the dress) to little (towards the bottom). I got complements on it all night long. The dress has a lot going on, so I kept the look simple with my lucky black patent leather Christian Louboutins, simple hair, makeup, and jewelry.

Bohemian Black & Gold with Bettye Studded Mules

I loved styling this bohemian look with gold studded mules by Bettye. My style is usually a little more preppy than bohemian, so it was really fun to switch things up. I love the tiny stud details that shoe designer Abbey Liebman added to these mules. The black and gold goes well with so many different looks, and paired perfectly with this matching black, gold, and white dress! I like the shiny gold pailette detailing, the long black tassels, the balloon sleeves (trend alert) and the subtle star embroidery. All photography in this post is taken by the talented Alex Van!

Happy fall, which mean happy booties!

Sequin Pants

New Year’s Eve is right around the corner, and instead of the little sequin dress, this year I have been dreaming about some sleek sequin pants! The holiday season’s latest trend seems to hit right above the ankle, perfect for showcasing your favorite pump or sandal. I would select a pair in silver, gold, emerald or black for the holidays. Added benefit: Who doesn’t love a little extra warmth and comfort?

Which is your favorite pair?

Company Holiday Party

Last Thursday was my new company’s holiday party, and it was spectacular. The venue was called Three Sixty in Tribeca, and it had the most amazing views of the World Trade Center. There were hundreds of candles lighting the window sills, and a hallway of silver balloons led into the main dancing area. Walking through the balloons you felt like you were in a “tinsel” forrest, it was very cool. Also, the food (and alcohol) were incredible. Girls started leaving the office around 330pm to get their hair blown out and manicures. As I am new to tech and the company, I wasn’t sure how fancy the party would be or what was appropriate. Our office is pretty casual, so most of the guys showed up in their suits (adorable). I knew I wanted to wear something holiday-ish, and I narrowed it down to a red lace dress and this sequin Parker dress. I have recently fallen in love with Parker- they make the most incredible sequin dresses. I wasn’t sure if sequins would be too much, but because the dress is high cut and has sleeves, and the sequins are not “cheap” looking, I decided that the dress was sophisticated enough to wear around colleagues. I LOVE the sequin beading and intricate details on this dress. I don’t own many sequin dresses that are this special. I did my own hair and makeup, and I got my nails done (Essie’s “Dive Bar”- in love) immediately before the party.

A quick note about caring for a delicately beaded / sequin dress- make sure you keep it covered in a garment bag or protected so that other clothes in your closet don’t attack it!

Happy Holidays!!!
