Spring Wedding Guest Attire: Polka Dot Dress and Purple Bow Sandals

Exactly one week ago I was wearing this silk off-the-shoulder (trend alert!) blue and white polka dot DVF “Camila” dress and dancing at my best friend Gracie’s wedding in Harrisburg, PA! I am guilty of owning this DVF dress in two colors: blue and white polka dots and fuchsia! I just love the waterfall hem on this dress, it moves so beautifully when you walk. I also love mixing unexpected colors, so I paired the dress with purple satin bow heels. They have a little rhinestone glittery clasp on the side. I accessorized the dress with a sleek headband to accentuate off my collarbones, and a red lip to glam up the look!

I can’t believe that Gracie is married!

Fall Transition Look: Dove Gray Draped Jacket

Even though it’s October, it was still 80 degrees today in NYC! This makes it a little bit confusing when dressing. When the weather transitions from summer to fall, warm to cool, I like to ease the transition with a sundress and layer a leather jacket over my shoulders. Leather jackets are super versatile, and I think that they are closet staples. I like the way they look so effortlessly chic when they are draped over your shoulders. I love the color of this faux leather dove gray jacket. I layered the jacket over a floral pleated racerback mini dress. I completed the look with two trending accessories: pearl block heel sandals (trend alert!) and slanted cat-eye sunglasses (trend alert)!

Miami (Part 1): Strapless Pleated “Pinata” Dress

This past weekend I traveled to Miami for the first time for my friend Molly’s bachelorette party. When I saw this Kate Spade dress a few weeks ago in New York, I knew I had to get it for the trip. The bright colors and fun geo border pattern seemed so “Miami”! The dress is so fun and reminds me of a pinata. It had great movement and was very swingy and fun to wear. I kept the look simple with strappy black sandals, and a delicate gold evil-eye necklace. These pictures were taken on the boardwalk, and at the Faena hotel. This hotel has the most gorgeous lobby and bar area…it feels like a museum! Definitely a must-stop when you visit Miami.

I wore this dress out for the day, but it could easily be dressed up for a cocktail occasion with the right heels and accessories.

Spring Edition: Embroidered Dress & Cage Sandals

The days are getting longer and lighter…and it is April! I love spring fashion. I paired this embroidered tiered dress from Zara with Schutz cage lace-up sandals. I love the contrast of the sweet and feminine ruffle tiered dress with the edgier and rougher cage sandals. I bought these heels five (!) years ago as a gift to myself when I started my at-the-time new consulting job. Fast forward five years later and I still love wearing them, and they are great transitional shoes for both spring and fall. I actually own them in a more nude camel color, too.

Balloon Sleeve Sweater & Pearl Embellished Sandals

The weather has been so up and down in New York lately. It was almost 80 degrees earlier this week, and now it is cold again. I paired an almost all-black look together the other day, with a few of my favorite recent trends: balloon sleeves (bubble sleeves) and pearl-embellished shoes. This cashmere sweater is by Magaschoni, and I was particularly drawn to it because of it’s unique interpretation of this season’s balloon sleeve (trend alert!). I love that the balloon sleeve detail is more of a bubble at the elbow…Snow White style! I kept the look simple with black leggings, and black sandals with pearl embellishments (trend alert). I loved these sandals so much, that I also bought them in a blush-nude hue, too! My bright blue nails are the finishing touch, I had so much fun with them. The color is “Butler Please” by Essie.

Nautical: Stripes & Ropes

I have had some amazing beach days this summer. Starting in the Hamptons, followed by St. Croix, and now Delaware! A few weeks ago I traveled to Bethany Beach with my friend, Jill. Adidas Yeezy Boost 350 Homme It was my first time in Delaware, and I am a big fan. We literally spent three days at the beach, sitting under umbrellas and relaxing. I knew that I wanted to wear something easy and comfortable…and beachy. Nothing says the beach quite like nautical stripes! I picked this brown and white striped jersey dress up a few years ago in Hong Kong at an outdoor market, and I have gotten so much wear out of it! To complete my nautical, summery look, I paired my dress with my favorite gold rope sandals. Adidas Ultra Boost France I bought these at Target a few years ago, as well, and I have gotten so much use out of them. Adidas Yeezy Boost 350 V2 Pas Cher Dolce Vita and J. Crew make very similar versions. Chaussures Adidas Ultra Boost I love the gold tip on the top of the shoe, which was trendy a few years ago but is still a nice touch. I polished off the look with a new favorite pair of bubblegum pink sunglasses. Brown and pink go surprisingly well together, and what I loved about these sunglasses is the subtle gold rim on the inside, which nicely picks up the gold in the sandal.

Newport Weekend

This past weekend, four girlfriends and I traveled to Newport, Rhode Island. Newport is a place I have wanted to visit ever since I read Edith Wharton’s “Age of Innocence” in high school. I assumed it would be grand and charming, and it was all of those things plus more. Today’s Newport is a quaint New England town with many National Historic homes. There are also the mansions- which are really more like palaces. They are sprawling, and “grand” does not begin to describe them. We toured the Vanderbilt family home, “The Breakers”, named after the waves that would crash onto the cliffs just outside the home. Oh, and these were just summer homes. Newport is also home to some amazing food and nightlife. We ran into many bachelor / bachelorette parties, and even more weddings on Saturday. We walked the gorgeous Cliff Walk, we visited Second Beach, and we grabbed honorary drinks at the famous Castle Hill lawn. There was something so luxurious about drinking a blueberry vodka lemonade as we watched the ships sail by.

For the weekend getaway, I wanted to dress like it. I had a feeling that Newport would be preppy, similar to Nantucket (another favorite), so I packed my “uniform”. Jack Roger sandals, a simple Tory Burch dress, Ray Ban aviators, and my favorite Panama hat. The look was versatile, comfortable, low-key, and I felt very relaxed. When I travel, I like to “blend” in my outfit to match the location. It’s fun!

Enjoy the pics from highlights of our trip!
