Black and white, or black and cream, is one of the most elegant, classic color pairings. It is always a safe bet to wear to the office or to a big meeting or presentation. Below is one of my all time favorite classic looks: I paired a flowy, feminine ruffled blouse (although not over the top feminine) with a black pencil skirt. A black pencil skirt with a clean line is a closet staple, in my opinion. On my black and white “canvas” I made the look more interesting by adding some unique layered necklaces and jewelry, along with my favorite snakeskin pumps.
A love note to these pumps: They are by Isaac Mizrahi for Target, circa 2008. I paid $30 for them at Target (yes, I remember!) To this day, I have probably worn them over 200 times, they are super comfortable because the heel isn’t too high, and they are frequently mistaken for Manolos (I love you, too, Manolo Blahnik). Also, no snakes were harmed! These pumps were a major win. Snakeskin goes well with a surprising amount of outfits, and I highly suggest investing in a pair that you love as a closet staple.
I wear this blouse and skirt together a lot to work (repeat alert!), but each time I try to mix up the shoes and jewelry and then I have an entirely new look.
Work ready. Client ready. Boardroom ready!
