Leap Day Post: NYC Visit

Right before I started my new job, I headed back to my favorite stomping grounds in NYC for a little pampering. I got my first keratin hair treatment, a deep cleansing facial, a massage, and a mani/pedi. Such a fun week! I also got to visit my favorite park, Washington Square Park, for a little stroll with my best friend, Nicky. The same crazies were still there- do you see the guy on the left with the “Free Hugs” sign? I wore raw hem (trend alert, 2 years still!) cut off jeans that I purchased for about $15 in Auckland (random, right?), a simple black top, my new green flannel-lined utility jacket (holiday gift from my sister), new gold earrings, trusty gold watch, trusty gold rings, and Ray Bans. I made the outfit pop with my leopard-tassel-pointed-toe Gianvito Rossi flats. I’ve been very into delicate gold jewelry lately. I must be watching too much “Very Cavallari”! My nail color is “Wicked” by Essie.

San Francisco: Mock Turtleneck Tie Dye Ombre Sweatshirt & Black Chunky Boots

Tie dye. Are we into it? I fully embrace this trend as it reminds me of my childhood. It’s whimsical and fun, and I am a color lover. Add in ombre? Yes please! Neon? This is really getting trendy now. I bought this mock turtleneck (another trend alert!) sweatshirt with billowy sleeves a few months ago at H&M and I have been living in it. I wore it last weekend in San Francisco paired with thick black chunky combat boots (trend alert!) from ZARA and plain black leggings. I completed the look with my favorite cat eye sunglasses for an edgier vibe.

My friend Gwen and I popped into Alice & Olivia on Fillmore Street, and I found almost an identical sweater to the one I was wearing. I posted a pic…hilarious!

Happy New Year!

Classic Red Bow Coat & Sparkly Hatband for The Nutcracker

It’s been a while since I have been on here! In October and November I was in Australia (for a friend’s wedding) and then I went to New Zealand on the TRIP OF A LIFETIME! I am finally back, in Chicago, and getting back into a routine. A few Saturdays ago I attended the Nutcracker with my mom, sister, and niece (girl’s day!). We all decided to dress up. I have had this beautiful classic red bow coat for a few years, and I think that wearing it to The Nutcracker is absolutely perfect. I paired my coat with equally classic T-strap patent leather heels, and my new favorite accessory- a sparkly hatband (trend alert!) I did feel like a princess.

Hope everyone is enjoying the holidays!

Oheka Castle Wedding: Red Gown with Feathers

A ravishing red dress with ostrich feathers was only appropriate for a castle wedding at Oheka Castle on Long Island. This castle was stunning, and absolutely a dream come true as I have always wanted to visit. I truly felt like I was living in a fairytale with my friend Jeni. This dress is by French designer Paule Ka, and the feathery (ostrich feather) sleeves are removable via a snap! I am not completely into the cold shoulder trend anymore, but this one is just so whimsical. I got so many complements on this dress (the feathers!) at the wedding…at least 6 people! I completed the look with gold accessories. I also got my hair cut and styled before this wedding. I had a blast at this spectacular wedding!

Winter Glam in NYC

I will admit that this look is more appropriate for Aspen or Park City, but it has still been chilly! I wore this look a few weeks ago in NYC. I love the long ivory sweater with the detachable fur collar and all black everything else. The bag is by one of my favorite designers, Anine Bing, and I have had my eye on it for a few years! I paired this look with sky high booties and accessorized with classy with gold jewelry.

I had fun back in my old stomping grounds with my best pal, Nicky!

Heart Earrings, Classic Parka, & Lace-Up Croc-Embossed Booties

Two of my favorite trends of the season (trend alert!): heart earrings and lace up booties! These pearl embellished earrings are from H&M and are so fun and Valentine’s Day appropriate! The coat is a classic from Sandro, and I adore these croc-embossed lace up booties with a chunky heel. Perfect for one of my final West Village strolls 🙂

Vacation Ready Fur Parka

I hope everyone’s been enjoying the holiday season! I kicked mine off with my friend Janna’s wedding in Tucson, AZ and then spent Christmas in Chicago with my family. Now I am back in NYC! (Bahamas next week haha). I had brunch with two of my best friends yesterday, Jeni and Janel, in Soho! It’s chilly but not too cold in NYC, which was the perfect opportunity for me to wear my new favorite fur-colored parka! It was the first time wearing it, and even a stranger lady on the street said to me “beautiful coat!” I love this coat for many reasons: It has a Patagonia down undercoat that can unzip from the outer coat, and the hood is also detachable, which makes it very versatile and functional! I kept the look chic and clean with white denim and gray leather booties.

This coat would be the perfect glamorous accessory for a cold destination vacation!

Holiday Edit: Red Lace Pants & Velvet Hair Bow

Tis the season…for red lace pants! The lace trend continues for me this holiday season, this time with festive cherry red lace pants! I love a beautiful lace pant or trouser, they can be so sophisticated and elegant. This whole look (minus the shoes!) is from J. Crew. I went into the store to buy classic black lace pants over Black Friday weekend, and I was sold on the red, too! I paired these statement pants with a simple black top, my classic Christian Louboutin “Decolette” heels (I love that the red sole subtly picks up the red in the pants), and a black velvet hair tie to keep the look extra festive! I love velvet for the holiday season, and mixing different textures like velvet and lace. Kate Middleton recently has been seen out with this velvet bow, so I felt very polished!

These photos were taken outside of one of my favorite restaurants on my street- Palma!

Holiday Edit: Green Lace High-Collared Dress and Golden Velvet Pumps

It’s officially holiday party and gala (!) season! Last night I attended the Light Up the Night Benefit at the Museum of Jewish Heritage with 13 of my closest friends. The evening was a BLAST. There was a photobooth, unlimited drinks, freshly fried latkes, and dancing. For the event, I knew I did not want to wear anything red (haha). So, I wore this beautiful Catherine Deane high-collared lace dress. The lace is delicate and beautiful, and it reminds me of something Kate Middleton would wear. I paired my favorite gold velvet Tamara Mellon pumps with the dress…love this festive color combo! I kept my jewelry simple with a gold watch and diamond stud earrings. I completed the look with a new favorite accessory of the moment– a knotted turban-style headband (trend alert)!

Cherry Red Holiday Coat

I love the color red (such a strong color!) and I love a beautiful coat. So, when I laid my eyes on this gorgeous cherry red (“lollipop red”) Kate Spade coat last year, I had to have it. A beautiful classic coat is a closet staple. This coat feels so luxurious when I wear it. It is lined beautifully, and my favorite part is the big fun bow which snaps on at the front. I kind of feel like a big walking present! Coco Chanel would have approved of this coat. If you look closely, I also love the big beautiful buttons on this coat. I paired the look with little emerald studs, and a skinny black headband. Any time I wear a headband I instantly feel more girly. This whole look reminds me of something Blair Waldorf would wear!

Of course, I had to wear my trusty Christian Louboutin’s so that the red sole of the shoe would pop with the red coat!

While I was wearing this coat I was stopped by a former stylist walking his dog (who said “nice pins”), an elderly woman also walking her dog who adored the coat, and the man who lives in the brownstone behind me! Later in the day I wore it to Rolf’s for eggnog, and I was also stopped by a group of middle-aged moms. This coat is such a fun and whimsical statement in itself, and I plan to wear and enjoy it for years to come!
