White Chevron Vintage Fur Coat

The weather these past few weeks in NYC has been…crazy. One day it’s warm tee shirt weather, and the next day it’s snowing and feels like your face is going to freeze off. Tomorrow it’s supposed to be a blizzard! I bought this white chevron vintage fur coat from a street vendor on Bleecker Street. It was a birthday present for myself last fall! I love the warm furry collar, and the gorgeous chevron detailing on the back. It’s so warm and the wind can’t break through it! I paired my coat with my new absolute favorite black ankle zipper leggings (closet staple). They are so versatile and I love that they are dressy enough to wear to work, while being comfortable! My round tortoise-shell sunnies and black envelope cross-body have been staples with me lately. These booties are another star of this outfit…how amazing are they! I love the all black, with edgy mini stud detailing and double buckles. The leather is so shiny, and the heel is the perfect height for a little bit of lift, while still being practical to run around the city.

Hope everyone stays warm tomorrow! Spring is coming…

Floppy Hat, Fur Vest, & Vintage Boots

This post is special to me because I have been waiting to write about this look for two years since my blog’s launch! This is a fall look that I think transitions well into winter. It consists of a floppy hat, a fur vest, skinny jeans tucked into riding boots, delicate gold jewelry, and a fabulous pair of sunglasses. It is a classic, sophisticated pairing that involves neutrals, vintage pieces, and mixed textures. In keeping with New York, this look is almost all black, with a pop of gray. I bought this floppy hat and these amazing black leather vintage boots at a rummage sale almost a decade ago. Both pieces cost me less than $10, and are still in style years later. This winter break I polished up my boots, waterproofed them, and had heel caps added on. I am a big believer in taking care of your things.

The shirt, although hard to see in the pictures, is a light weight jersey shirt that has an open “dip” back from one of my favorite designers, Splendid. It is wonderful for layering and oh so cozy-  worth paying retail for! The Yves Salomon vest was a 27th birthday present to myself, from myself, from Intermix. My friends Gracie and Aisha went with me when I pulled the trigger, helping me choose between a wood-y brown color and the gray I ended up with. I love this vest because it is so warm and comfy, and it also can be reversed to show a different cut! The best part is that it fits perfectly underneath my leather jacket, so the jacket can have furry flaps. A fur vest is a warm, functional, closet staple, and fur vests have been trending for a few years now.

Thanks to Daniel for taking these West Village pics!

Belted Dress

The days are getting longer, and the sun is shining a little brighter these days. Warm weather fashion is my favorite. I bought this dress back in college for my graduation weekend (5 years ago!) so I thought the timing was appropriate to wear it again for a blog post. It goes to show you, classic styles stick around. I love the speckled white and orange print, the feminine front ruffling, and the white wicker belt. I paired this dress with classic white slingbacks. They are very comfortable, and great for spring. This look almost feels Parisian-chic to me- maybe it’s the balcony!

Lace Shift Dress

I had so much fun styling and shooting this vintage-inspired look in the West Village. I paired a mini lace shift dress (also a LWD!) with nude strappy sandals, funky sunglasses, and my new Lulu Guinness snakeskin lip clutch. Shift dresses are great because they are so versatile. I dressed this one up with heels, and I could also pair it with flats and a cross-body bag for a more casual look. This lace shift dress is perfect for brunch, a date, you name it. I particularly liked it because of the bigger lace printed flowers. They remind me of doilies! My friend Alex styled my hair, and it kind of reminds me of a Farrah Fawcett inspired look. We also went for a bright pink lip. It was fun to switch up my hair and makeup from my usual styling. This whole look costs under $100. Except for the lip clutch 🙂

I have had my eye on one of Lulu Guinness’ fun and whimsical classic lip clutches for some time now. I finally pulled the plug. It also doesn’t hurt that she has a boutique on Bleecker Street that I walk past all of the time.

As for the shoot, I am in a stoop phase. Enjoy the pics!

Pink & Gold

Last week I attended the Glamour in the City benefit, hosted by one of my close friends from college. I’ve gone every June since moving to NYC, so now it’s pretty much a tradition! GlamourGals supports volunteers who provide ongoing companionship and complimentary beauty makeovers to women living in senior homes. The dress code for the event was…pink. I don’t own that much pink, but I have been waiting to wear the below wispy chiffon ABS by Allen Schwartz dress for quite some time now. The event provided the perfect opportunity to take the frock out on the town! I paired it with my new glittering gold Jimmy Choo wedges. These shoes are so comfortable, and surprisingly, pair well with a lot. Before C. Wonder closed its doors a few months ago, I scooped up some vintage-inspired jewelry. The delicate black and white earrings and bracelet in these pics looked pretty with the pink chiffon. I wore my hair down, but slightly tamed with a skinny black headband.

Thank goodness it’s summer! June is one of my favorite months.

Faux fur coat

This faux fur coat is my newest favorite obsession. While a faux fur coat may seem like an impractical purchase (at least this crossed my mind!) I have been pleasantly surprised at how much use I have already gotten from it. Dress it up, dress it down. I wear it out at night with a dress and heels, and to the gym with my hair in a bun and my spandex. It is super versatile because of it’s length, and it makes a fun statement. I particularly love the unique criss-cross pattern of the fur on this one, and the wide collar is so glam! I paired this look with one of my favorite simple black dresses, platform peep toe heels and a lucite antique-inspired cuff.

I found some new graffiti outside of my apartment that I took full advantage of for this shoot. (Is that bad?)

This coat though. So obsessed. “Let’s love” it.
