Fall Transition Look: Dove Gray Draped Jacket

Even though it’s October, it was still 80 degrees today in NYC! This makes it a little bit confusing when dressing. When the weather transitions from summer to fall, warm to cool, I like to ease the transition with a sundress and layer a leather jacket over my shoulders. Leather jackets are super versatile, and I think that they are closet staples. I like the way they look so effortlessly chic when they are draped over your shoulders. I love the color of this faux leather dove gray jacket. I layered the jacket over a floral pleated racerback mini dress. I completed the look with two trending accessories: pearl block heel sandals (trend alert!) and slanted cat-eye sunglasses (trend alert)!

Yellow Floral Halter Dress and Tri-Strap Heels

I love a classic summer sundress, and between the halter strings, tie at the bust, midi length, and floral print on this one it had me swooning! Sundresses are easy to transition into fall by layering with a jean jacket or leather jacket (coming soon!) This dress will pair nicely with many different shoe options depending on the season or occasion: a block heeled sandal for a wedding guest attire look, low booties for a fall casual look, or these faux patent leather heels with three straps for a glam look!

Thanks to my friend Nicky for taking these pictures around the West Village. It almost looks like I live in the brownstone, right?!

Ric Rac Ruffled Backless Dress

It was a hot one today in NYC! With only a few weeks of summer left, today was the perfect opportunity to pull out my new ric rac (trend alert!) dress. A friend showed me this dress back in June, and I immediately fell in love with how flouncy, feminine, and fun it was. The rainbow ric rac is so whimsical, and my favorite part of the dress is the surprise open back (perfect for an end-of-summer tan!) I matched the dress with my navy espadrilles– also super summery. The top and bottom ruffles of this dress are navy, so I loved that it matched perfectly with my espadrilles. Finally, I completed the look with my new glam cat-eye sunglasses.

Stay cool out there!

Wedding Guest Edition: Silk Yellow Ruffled Dress

This weekend I had the pleasure of being the Plus 1 wedding date for one of my best friends, Gracie! One of her best friends, Valerie, got married in a beautiful intimate wedding in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. I am so honored that I got to attend! I remember meeting Val in Thailand when she visited Gracie almost 7 years ago (wow). For the wedding, I decided to wear one of my favorite summery colors: yellow! I love wearing yellow because it is so cheerful and warm. This is a silk BGBC dress that has delicate pleated ruffle layers. I love pretty much anything that is feminine and girly, so naturally I was drawn to this simple dress.

The most fun part of the outfit for me, however, were the party shoes! You can just call me Carrie Bradshaw. These ones are beige satin with a bejeweled crystal heel by Nicholas Kirkwood. Changing the shoe pairing with this dress can transform the formality of it. Pairing it with a leather jacket and booties could transition the dress into fall- and dress the whole look down.

I hope that the beautiful bride Val and her husband Will are having a blast in Portugal now!

France Part 5, St. Tropez: Pom Pom Embroidered Turquoise Dress

Writing this post is bittersweet, as it was exactly one month ago to the day that Gwen and I were in St. Tropez living our best lives! I visited St. Tropez for the first time when I was 17 with one of my best friends from high school (Katalin!) so this trip brought back a lot of good memories for me. We loved exploring the cute shops in town, eating Tropezienne dessert overlooking the yachts in the harbor, and of course– the pool parties at the day clubs! We had a blast at a club that I remembered from 12 years ago, called Nikki Beach. They had the most fun pool party! We started our day at the Dior Cafe (who knew there was such a thing). It was pretty extra though- garden dining with umbrellas that spritzed fine mist as you as you ate. All of the food was Dior branded, which was pretty amazing, too!

For the day, I needed an outfit that could take me from breakfast in the town, to the beach, to the pool parties. I bought this Calypso St. Barth turquoise embroidered pom pom beach cover up a few years ago, and had been waiting for the most special occasion to wear it. I love the gorgeous beading and the big silky tassels. The pom poms are so fun and beachy, too! I wore the dress over a classic black string bikini, and completed the look with my big sunglasses and Panama hat. Next time I will need to find cuter shoes than my favorite Reef flip flops!

France Part 3, Antibes: Off-the-Shoulder Silk Waterfall Hem Dress & Classic Slingbacks

This post captures one of my absolute favorite memories from my trip to France. It’s always been a dream of mine to visit the world famous Hotel du Cap Eden Roc. Gwen and I pulled up to the perfectly manicured gates in our little black Cleo, where we were greeted by 4 valet men. After ensuring us that we knew that they did not cause the scratches on our vehicle (haha!) we stepped out and enjoyed the spectacular views from the hotel. My friend Gwen (in marigold Maje!) and I each enjoyed a glass of Whispering Angel rose as we looked out on the incredible infinity pool and the calm waters of the Mediterranean Sea. I will remember it forever!

For our fancy day out, I wore a new DVF silk off-the-shoulder (trend alert!) waterfall-hem printed dress. I love how the silk is so delicate and billowed in the wind. I kept the look simple, and chic, with a delicate gold necklace, oversized cat-eye sunglasses, and white and nude slingbacks. I love these white shoes- they are the perfect height and are comfortable, and the cut brings back major 80s vibes!

I miss the glamour and tranquility of this place…sigh! The last two photographs in this post are from Hotel Belles Rives…an also spectacular hotel on the drive to Hotel du Cap Eden Roc!

France Part 1, Provence: One-Shoulder Bow Detailed Striped Cotton Dress

Last Sunday I returned from an incredible nearly 2 week vacation in France! I met one of my best friends, Gwen, in Aix-en-Provence, and we road-tripped through the south. She was the photographer for all of these pics (thanks Gwen!) When I saw this one-shoulder swingy cotton dress, it screamed “Provence” to me! I love the striped pattern and the subtle bow detail on the shoulder. I am very into tea length dresses (trend alert!) this season. I completed the look with my favorite lace up espadrilles (they are 12 years old, from Banana Republic!), a red lip, dainty gold rings, and cat-eye sunglasses.

Aix-en-Provence was so charming, and one of my favorite places we visited. The lavendar fields also had me feeling like I was in The Sound of Music!

Belmont Stakes: Black & White Polka Dots

Last Saturday I attended the Belmont Stakes with my good friend Jeni. There was quite the spectrum of fashion at the racetrack- from belly shirts and strapless dresses to much more conservative and sophisticated looks. For the race, I wanted to channel my inner Julia Roberts circa “Pretty Woman”, so I opted for a summery polka dot dress. I love the big bold black and white dots on it. Polka dots are so classic and fun! I paired the look with a feather and netted black fascinator, and accessorized with red Valentino bow heels and a matching red lip.

I was so glad that I went with these Valentino shoes because that morning I had been on the fence about wearing a much cheaper pair of strappy black patent leather pumps (not by any notable designer). At the racetrack, Jeni and I were approached by Stuart Weitzman! This was an unbelievable dream come true for me, as I have been wearing and loved his shoes since I was a teenager. Actually, the first designer pair of shoes I purchased were black and white Stuart Weitzman spectator pumps! It felt good to be able to tell THE Stuart Weitzman this special story. He told me that he recognized my red Valentino heels (mistake to not wear Stuart Weitzman haha) and matching red lip immediately– and then he noticed that my friend Jeni was wearing Stuart Weitzman! He told me it didn’t look like I dressed for comfort ha! He also said that he wants his tombstone to read “Stuart Weitzman: inventor of the thigh high”. It was awesome to meet him and to speak all things shoes with him. Thank god I didn’t wear the no-name black pumps!

Veuve Clicquot Polo Classic: Gingham Embroidered-Eyelet Off-the-Shoulder Dress

All of last week I checked the forecast for Saturday– the day of the Veuve Clicquot Polo Classic, and it was rain rain rain. Then Saturday rolled around and there was no rain! It was just one of the hottest days I can remember…85 degrees with a beating sun! This was my first time at the event, and it was held on Liberty Island, just off of Manhattan. I met some girlfriends in Soho and we headed down! It was so hot, that when we were standing in the champagne line the guy standing behind us offered us paper towels to blot off our sweaty skin and dripping hair (eww).

For the event, I knew I wanted to wear a cute sundress that I wouldn’t mind getting a little dirty. I opted for this gingham (trend alert!) off-the-shoulder (trend alert!) and embroidered eyelet (trend alert!) number. I completed the look with a preppy boat hat, mirrored sunnies, comfy block-heeled sandals, and a springy coral lip!

Heading to another horse event tomorrow…The Belmont!

Royal Wedding in Windsor (Part 2): Scallops on Scallops on Scallops

I can’t believe that the Royal Wedding was 2 weeks ago already, and that it is now June! On the first day of the party, the ladies and I went on a barge down the Thames River. The attire theme was “nautical”, so I figured that you can’t go wrong with navy! I love anything that has scalloping trim (trend alert!) , so this mock halter bib neck dress seemed perfect. I kept the look preppy, and scalloped, by pairing the look with a scalloped monogrammed envelope clutch and scalloped black flats. To accessorize, I paired the look with classic aviators and jewelry from my new friend Anna’s “Anna K Collection”! You can shop this look from the links at the end of the post.
