Memorial Day Weekend in NYC: Polka Dots & Chanel

I have had the best Memorial Day Weekend being back in NYC and catching up with my core group of friends there. Additionally, I had a Danish and German friend who both were in town, which is what prompted my trip. I recently purchased these Ann Taylor Loft polka dot culottes, and I was ecstatic when I found them because I had been looking for a pair just like this… I am a polka dot lover! I also like the length of these pants and the elastic waist (super comfortable and flattering). I paired them with a cloth-button cold-shoulder blouse (trend alert!), Stuart Weitzman Nudist sandals (trend alert!), my trusty heart sunglasses (trend alert!), and a dream item I took out for the first time…my classic Chanel jumbo black caviar-leather gold-hardware flapbag! A classic look to kick off summer in the city 🙂

Holiday Party Edit: Metallic Pleated Skirt & Tiered Ruffle Sweater

With Thanksgiving officially behind us, it’s now one of my favorite seasons of the year: Holiday Party Season! I love this time of year because it’s totally okay to wear all things sparkly and shiny. I have six holiday parties over the next two weeks, and I plan to repeat-wear the below outfit to a few of them. I adore this pleated metallic (trend alert) Rebecca Taylor skirt, and dove gray ruffle sleeve Endless Rose sweater (from two years ago). I completed the look with a red lip- perfect for holiday parties (or any time of year!) and my favorite ankle strap PVC heels. This look is conservative and would also be perfect for a work holiday party!

Who else is excited for the holidays?!

Leopard Drop Waist Sweater Dress & Bright Rockstuds

One of my favorite prints to wear is leopard print, and I particularly love leopard print for fall. It’s so fun and whimsical! I got this drop waist sweater dress a few years ago at Ann Taylor Loft, and I love how flouncy it is (very fun to twirl in). It’s also work appropriate. I paired the look with my hot pink Valentino rockstuds to add a pop of color.

Hope everyone enjoyed their Thanksgiving!

Fall Transition Look: Feminine Floral Pleats & Edgy Leather Accessories

Is there anything better than an October Saturday morning stroll in Soho? Not in my book! One of my best friends, Nicky, and I went for a walk this morning and the fall festive decorations were in full swing. There were so many gorgeous pumpkins everywhere! It is still warm enough to get away without wearing a jacket, so I opted for this beautiful drop-waist floral pleated dress. I love that this dress has a navy base color, which makes it very transitional and perfect for fall. I also am a pleat-lover, so was immediately attracted to it! I love to keep a look edgy by mixing feminine pieces with tougher masculine pieces– such as these leather studded combat boots. It’s unexpected and “toughens” the look up, making it perfect for downtown Manhattan. I completed the look with my favorite cat-eye sunglasses, and my trusty silver embossed leather Rochas bucket bag!

Hope everyone has a fantastic weekend!

Wedding Guest Edition: Conservative Look for a Religious Jewish Wedding

Last Thursday night I attended a religious Jewish wedding of one of my closest friends, Elana. The wedding was held in Staten Island at 4pm (to not overlap with Shabbat), so I took the day off and really pampered myself. I got my hair done in the morning- trying a new split end removal technique that I was skeptical about but actually really worked! These “clamps” that kind of look like a straightening iron are pulled through your hair, and it only removes the split ends. Then I had a dusting cut at the end to even everything out. My hair stylist, Anita, also put in amazing hair extensions that I bought from The Hair Shop. The color match was perfect, and I felt glamorous the whole night. The Hair Repair Bar just opened on Bleecker Street around the corner from my apartment, so that made things extra convenient, too!

At an Orthodox wedding, I knew I had to dress conservatively. This meant no cleavage, no shoulders, nothing skin tight. I found this sophisticated Marni black dress a few weeks back and I loved the dramatic draped hemline. (It reminded me of a dress Meghan Markle might wear!) However, I did opt to pair the dress with sexy guinea feather strappy sandals by Stuart Weitzman. I completed the look with a bright red lip and gold accessories.

The wedding was super fun. I loved seeing the bride Elana, my friends from Poland, and the acrobat entertainment! Mazel Tov, Elana and Alex!

Jersey Dress & White Sneakers

It’s 81 degrees right now in NYC! It’s the perfect opportunity for me to wear one of my favorite easy jersey dresses, a closet staple. I love the navy blue color, the high neckline, and peekaboo back on this one. It’s so cute and simple with fresh white sneakers (trend alert!). I completed the look by pairing it with a suede crossbody bag and cat-eye sunglasses. I love the jeweled fringe detail on this bag. It’s just the right amount of detail and sparkle to spice up an otherwise simple outfit.

Colorblock Pleated Mini Dress & PVC-Trimmed Ankle Strap Heels

I can’t believe it’s the last official week of summer! I can’t wait to wear this colorblock pleated mini dress on Thursday night in Denver for a friend’s bridal shower! I wore it last weekend with new PVC-trimmed heels (trend alert!) and a gold crescent necklace (trend alert!). Hope everyone has fun Labor Day Weekend plans!

Wedding Guest Edition: Silk Yellow Ruffled Dress

This weekend I had the pleasure of being the Plus 1 wedding date for one of my best friends, Gracie! One of her best friends, Valerie, got married in a beautiful intimate wedding in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. I am so honored that I got to attend! I remember meeting Val in Thailand when she visited Gracie almost 7 years ago (wow). For the wedding, I decided to wear one of my favorite summery colors: yellow! I love wearing yellow because it is so cheerful and warm. This is a silk BGBC dress that has delicate pleated ruffle layers. I love pretty much anything that is feminine and girly, so naturally I was drawn to this simple dress.

The most fun part of the outfit for me, however, were the party shoes! You can just call me Carrie Bradshaw. These ones are beige satin with a bejeweled crystal heel by Nicholas Kirkwood. Changing the shoe pairing with this dress can transform the formality of it. Pairing it with a leather jacket and booties could transition the dress into fall- and dress the whole look down.

I hope that the beautiful bride Val and her husband Will are having a blast in Portugal now!

Belmont Stakes: Black & White Polka Dots

Last Saturday I attended the Belmont Stakes with my good friend Jeni. There was quite the spectrum of fashion at the racetrack- from belly shirts and strapless dresses to much more conservative and sophisticated looks. For the race, I wanted to channel my inner Julia Roberts circa “Pretty Woman”, so I opted for a summery polka dot dress. I love the big bold black and white dots on it. Polka dots are so classic and fun! I paired the look with a feather and netted black fascinator, and accessorized with red Valentino bow heels and a matching red lip.

I was so glad that I went with these Valentino shoes because that morning I had been on the fence about wearing a much cheaper pair of strappy black patent leather pumps (not by any notable designer). At the racetrack, Jeni and I were approached by Stuart Weitzman! This was an unbelievable dream come true for me, as I have been wearing and loved his shoes since I was a teenager. Actually, the first designer pair of shoes I purchased were black and white Stuart Weitzman spectator pumps! It felt good to be able to tell THE Stuart Weitzman this special story. He told me that he recognized my red Valentino heels (mistake to not wear Stuart Weitzman haha) and matching red lip immediately– and then he noticed that my friend Jeni was wearing Stuart Weitzman! He told me it didn’t look like I dressed for comfort ha! He also said that he wants his tombstone to read “Stuart Weitzman: inventor of the thigh high”. It was awesome to meet him and to speak all things shoes with him. Thank god I didn’t wear the no-name black pumps!

Miami (Part 2): Two-Piece Lilly Pulitzer Crop-Top and Midi Skirt Set

One of my favorite trends for this summer is matching two-piece sets! They usually involve some flavor of a crop top, and a matching skirt. While this set at first glance appears to be a dress, it is actually a ruffled crop-top and skirt. I love the Lilly Pulitzer classic tropical colors- it was too perfect for Miami! Miami also has a certain glitz and glamour, so I paired the look with comfortable Jimmy Choo wedges (which I have owned for almost 10 years), as well as a dainty gold evil-eye necklace and a gold watch. I completed the look with a sun-kissed tan 😉

These photos were taken at Soho Beach House’s Italian restaurant Cecconi’s. It was pretty magical.
