France Part 3, Antibes: Off-the-Shoulder Silk Waterfall Hem Dress & Classic Slingbacks

This post captures one of my absolute favorite memories from my trip to France. It’s always been a dream of mine to visit the world famous Hotel du Cap Eden Roc. Gwen and I pulled up to the perfectly manicured gates in our little black Cleo, where we were greeted by 4 valet men. After ensuring us that we knew that they did not cause the scratches on our vehicle (haha!) we stepped out and enjoyed the spectacular views from the hotel. My friend Gwen (in marigold Maje!) and I each enjoyed a glass of Whispering Angel rose as we looked out on the incredible infinity pool and the calm waters of the Mediterranean Sea. I will remember it forever!

For our fancy day out, I wore a new DVF silk off-the-shoulder (trend alert!) waterfall-hem printed dress. I love how the silk is so delicate and billowed in the wind. I kept the look simple, and chic, with a delicate gold necklace, oversized cat-eye sunglasses, and white and nude slingbacks. I love these white shoes- they are the perfect height and are comfortable, and the cut brings back major 80s vibes!

I miss the glamour and tranquility of this place…sigh! The last two photographs in this post are from Hotel Belles Rives…an also spectacular hotel on the drive to Hotel du Cap Eden Roc!

Miami (Part 2): Two-Piece Lilly Pulitzer Crop-Top and Midi Skirt Set

One of my favorite trends for this summer is matching two-piece sets! They usually involve some flavor of a crop top, and a matching skirt. While this set at first glance appears to be a dress, it is actually a ruffled crop-top and skirt. I love the Lilly Pulitzer classic tropical colors- it was too perfect for Miami! Miami also has a certain glitz and glamour, so I paired the look with comfortable Jimmy Choo wedges (which I have owned for almost 10 years), as well as a dainty gold evil-eye necklace and a gold watch. I completed the look with a sun-kissed tan 😉

These photos were taken at Soho Beach House’s Italian restaurant Cecconi’s. It was pretty magical.

Irridescent Pink Sequined Dress

Glitter!!! I had such an amazing night tonight at the QVC FFANY event, which featured a shoe salon where proceeds benefited cancer research. The evening started off with cocktails and appetizers, a shoe photography station for a shoe contest (amazing), and a photo booth. The shoe salon had various designers offering their shoes at half off. Guilty…I bought an amazing pair of boots! I attended the event as a guest of my collaboration partner Abbey Liebman and Bettye Muller shoes. Highlights included hearing Sam Edelman speak, and seeing Alexandre Birman win designer of the year. I even got to congratulate him on the way out 🙂 Oh! And randomly seeing Mandy Moore in the shoe salon. Girlfriend likes shoes just like the rest of us!

About a week ago, I saw this sequin and pailette Halston Heritage dress and I fell in love with it. I had no where to wear it, but I knew that I would someday! That day was tonight haha. The pink was perfect for a gala in support of cancer research. The work on this dress is exquisite. It includes a mixture of both sequins and pailettes in ombre shades of pink which fade from big (at the top of the dress) to little (towards the bottom). I got complements on it all night long. The dress has a lot going on, so I kept the look simple with my lucky black patent leather Christian Louboutins, simple hair, makeup, and jewelry.

New Orleans Wedding: Southern Belle

One of my closest friends from college (we met freshman year of college when we lived on the same floor in our dorm!) got married this weekend in New Orleans. Originally I was planning to wear black, but I was later convinced that a town as fun as NOLA deserves bright happy colors. I picked up this Theia gown at a recent sample sale, and it was perfect for this occasion! I love the rich colors and thick fabric. The classic silhouette makes me feel like a southern belle! I also love the scoop back. I paired this gown with my favorite black t-strap glittery pumps. I usually wear these in the winter during the holidays, but I liked the texture-play against the rich fabric. Plus, I didn’t have a pedicure, so I needed a closed-toe shoe! I lalso love that these heels show some sexy toe cleavage! The dress and heels have a lot going on, so I didn’t wear any jewelry except for my diamond studs.

Cotton Candy Coat

It’s springtime in February! How glorious has this entire weekend been? This coat was a bit of a trend splurge last fall, which I don’t usually recommend, but it’s just so FUN! Last year’s teddy bear coat has made it to a second season! I wore it out on Friday night, and my girlfriends called it a “Carrie Bradshaw coat”. A few boys told me “your coat is…wonderful” and “your coat looks like cotton candy”. I loved this description so much that it is the new namesake of this post. My boyfriend thinks this coat is silly (re: Man Repeller ha) but I tell him that I make the streets of NYC interesting and fun and give something to delight the people outside! I paired the coat with a favorite pair of gray stretchy skinny jeans, my black Rebecca Minkoff envelope cross-body bag, my go-to tortoise-shell sunnies, and brand new burgundy Chloe moto boots (completely obsessed with these). I love the femininity of the coat, especially when paired with the edgier and more rugged moto boots.

Geometric Print Bustier Sundress

This weekend a few friends and I traveled to Barbados for a little girls trip. We pretty much just went to the beach everyday and walked around, which made it a perfect opportunity to break out one of my favorite geometric printed sundresses. This one is a few years old and from Target! It has a stretchy elastic back which makes it extra comfy. I love the blue geometric pattern, and especially the stitched bustier top. I remember seeing some Parker strapless peplum tops with this same sort of stitched bustier top a few years ago, which is a trend I loved. I paired this look with some whimsical bubblegum pink sunglasses and navy blue closed-toe espadrilles which matched perfectly with the dress. Hair in a messy bun, because I could not be bothered! Enjoy this casual tropical look and the change of setting!

Spring Shoot with Tom Naples Photography

Last Saturday was an absolutely gorgeous, warm, and sunny day in NYC. I had the pleasure of working with a very talented photographer whom I went to college with, Tom Naples, and his equally talented videographer friend, Courtney Norris. We were also joined by our buddy Dan- who did an excellent job snapping some iPhone pics. I am very proud to have collaborated with such gifted artists. Tom took the below shots. Our plan was to head to the Brooklyn bridge, but it turned out that about a million (maybe that’s an exaggeration, although it is New York!) other people had the same idea. We floated around the court house and had a blast. I styled this Rebecca Minkoff soft pink off-the shoulder (trend alert!) ombre dress with some cat-eye sunglasses I bought from a Soho street vendor, and my favorite sparkly-soled pumps. I also picked up this gold-pearl accent collar (another trend alert!) It’s edgy, and it looks great with any dress or top that is off-the-shoulder or strapless.

I highly encourage you to check out Tom Naples work at www.thomasnaples.com. Instagram handle @tomnaplesphoto. Better yet, book him! He offers all kinds of photography services for different occasions- and he is a gem to work with.

More to come- we shot two looks, and Courtney’s video is coming soon…

Flamingos

Every once in a while I get a crush on a particular pattern or object: pineapples, zebras… you get the gist. Currently, I am obsessing over all things flamingo. Flamingos are fun, tropical, preppy, and whimsical. They make me feel like summer is around the corner! Below are a few favorites that I found when scouring the world wide web.

Stay tuned for a very exciting, collaborative, surprise next blog post 😉

Hearts & a Pom Pom

Valentine’s Day is just around the corner, so it’s only appropriate that this post features one of my favorite silk heart-print button-down blouses that I purchased almost one year (!) ago when C. Wonder announced they were closing. I love to layer this blouse under a fur vest or layered with an open front blazer for work. The heart print is subtle, yet feminine. I styled this look for an Upper West Side shoot with a pair of my favorite booties. I bought these boots in black and gold a few falls ago, and I liked them so much that last year I bought them in this pretty camel color. The gold detailing at the front, and studs at the back, are so edgy and the heel is short enough to be comfortable to walk in (important!). I got this tote bag from my big sister when I started consulting almost three years ago, and it is so functional and I have gotten so much use out of it. I snagged this pom pom charm (trend alert) at a major sale, and I find myself switching it from bag to bag to add a pop of fun. I first saw pom pom charms about a year ago, exactly, when I was in Aruba at a Louis Vuitton store with my friend Evy. We looked inside the glass case and burst out laughing at the seemingly ridiculous giant charm. I had no idea what it’s practical use was, and it was hundreds of dollars. I guess the joke was on me because pom pom charms are everywhere now…and I have fallen victim to this trend.

Bubblegum Marshmallow Coat

Otherwise known as a “teddy bear coat”, I prefer the name “bubblegum marshmallow coat”. It reminds me of a few of my favorite things! I picked up this coat for my birthday this November, and I have been wearing it for most of this winter (due to our odd warm spurts). I love how big and puffy this coat is. To me, it is outrageously fun and very downtown New York. I have been pleasantly surprised at the hilarious complements I have gotten on it- from women shopkeepers to men on the street. To be honest though, I am not sure how many people actually like the coat, or if it is so wild that they just feel the need to comment on it. Regardless, I love this coat and I love the gold studded edgy booties I paired with it!
