French Bridesmaid Duty in Strapless Tulle

It was such an honor (and so much FUN) to be a bridesmaid in one of my best friend’s weddings in France. She was the most relaxed bride ever! She let all of her bridesmaid pick whatever dress they wanted to wear. She said “Wear your favorite dress!” (how cool). I opted for this strapless soft dove gray tulle dress by Jenny Yoo, because I love tulle and this was a good excuse to wear it. All of the bridesmaids got our hair done at a charming local hair salon. There were two women doing hair, who spoke very little English, and an older lady in the salon who was very amused by all of the bridesmaids. One of my favorite memories is when the photographer (one of the other bridesmaid’s brothers) had to translate “bigger curls” to the hair dresser for another bridesmaid. I picked these wildflowers for my hair, and was pretty pleased with the turnout. You instantly feel more special when you have flowers in your hair! I paired my dress with my black strappy block sandals. They are the perfect height to walk easily (or dance!) and I wore them the entire night. The block heel also came in handy for an outdoor wedding.

The final picture is of the bride and her father in a carriage on their way to the chapel. I miss this fairytale French wedding!

Graduation Party: Baby Blue Cold-Shoulder Dress

I hope everyone had an amazing Memorial Day weekend! Mine was…eventful. Below is the look I wore to my sister’s graduation party on Saturday. This Lush baby blue / sky blue cold shoulder dress (trend alert!) is one of my favorite new pieces. I love how simple the dress is, and the bow details add a nice feminine touch. This dress was a perfect canvas for the brown and gold statement necklace I paired it with. I love pairing colors with neutrals, and brown goes nicely with so many different colors. I finished the look off with the new strappy block-sandals I have been wearing all week since I bought them last week. I was comfortable and could walk easily all weekend long.

Happy Summer!

Spring Shoot with Tom Naples Photography

Last Saturday was an absolutely gorgeous, warm, and sunny day in NYC. I had the pleasure of working with a very talented photographer whom I went to college with, Tom Naples, and his equally talented videographer friend, Courtney Norris. We were also joined by our buddy Dan- who did an excellent job snapping some iPhone pics. I am very proud to have collaborated with such gifted artists. Tom took the below shots. Our plan was to head to the Brooklyn bridge, but it turned out that about a million (maybe that’s an exaggeration, although it is New York!) other people had the same idea. We floated around the court house and had a blast. I styled this Rebecca Minkoff soft pink off-the shoulder (trend alert!) ombre dress with some cat-eye sunglasses I bought from a Soho street vendor, and my favorite sparkly-soled pumps. I also picked up this gold-pearl accent collar (another trend alert!) It’s edgy, and it looks great with any dress or top that is off-the-shoulder or strapless.

I highly encourage you to check out Tom Naples work at www.thomasnaples.com. Instagram handle @tomnaplesphoto. Better yet, book him! He offers all kinds of photography services for different occasions- and he is a gem to work with.

More to come- we shot two looks, and Courtney’s video is coming soon…

Structured Dress & Quilted Cap Toe Pumps

A structured, clean line, no-print dress is a closet staple, in my opinion. I recently picked up this paneled pastel blue dress from Topshop and it is extremely versatile. It is the perfect backdrop for many different statement necklaces and fun shoes. Plus, the pastel blue on this dress screams “spring”! It is easy to dress up from work to going out, especially by switching the shoes and accessories. Due to the fact that I wore this dress to the office, I paired it with one of my favorite pairs of classic quilted cap toe pumps. In the past few months I discovered the shoe brand Corso Como, and their shoes are very comfortable and well made. Plus. who doesn’t love a beautiful leather sole with a signature crystal embedded in it for a little glam! I paired this dress with a strand of pearls that I tripled for a more dramatic look, and I wore my hair in a bun.
