Texas Ranch BBQ: Paisley Dress & Cowboy Boots

Last weekend was one for the BOOKS! Saturday was spent at my friend Jeni’s family ranch BBQ party in the sleepy town of Dime Box, Texas (population 201) and Sunday was spent at a castle wedding in Long Island, New York.

To start with the ranch party! This “BBQ” included a concert by legendary Americana singer, Robert Earl Keen. There also were four Texas Trick Riders, who did wild stunts (hanging off of the side of a horse while it galloped, etc.) The town’s mayor, sheriff, and Senator John Cornyn were in attendance. For the event, I knew I wanted to be appropriately dressed for the occasion. I chose a favorite Calypso paisley silk dress, and paired it with my trusty cowboy boots. I have had them since high school– I got them at a rummage sale! I actually had to wear these cowboy boots at the airport because they wouldn’t fit in my luggage! I love that the paisley print is in keeping with the country theme, and the orange, black, and pink hues are so interesting! The tassel keyhole tie at the front is a nice detail, too. I completed the look with delicate gold jewelry, and bright red lips (hey, it’s Texas!)

Fall Transition Look: Quilted Leather Skirt (Part 1)

One of my favorite closet staple pieces and the first part in a two part series is about this black faux leather quilted skirt! I got this skirt about 7 years ago (when I was still in college!) and it’s been such a versatile piece in my wardrobe. In my blog moving forward, I am going to try to focus more on sustainable fashion and styling the same piece multiple ways. I love an all black look (c’mon, I’m a New Yorker). I kept it interesting with embroidered booties (trend alert) that are one of my favorite fall accessories! I love the gold embroidered pattern, the chunky block heel, and the height of these booties. I accessorized with my favorite gold watch, gold delicate star necklace and whimsical black heart sunglasses!

These photographs were professionally shot by my friend Jenna Minchuk. Check out her beautiful website to book her: Jennaminchuk.com.

Fall Transition Look: Feminine Floral Pleats & Edgy Leather Accessories

Is there anything better than an October Saturday morning stroll in Soho? Not in my book! One of my best friends, Nicky, and I went for a walk this morning and the fall festive decorations were in full swing. There were so many gorgeous pumpkins everywhere! It is still warm enough to get away without wearing a jacket, so I opted for this beautiful drop-waist floral pleated dress. I love that this dress has a navy base color, which makes it very transitional and perfect for fall. I also am a pleat-lover, so was immediately attracted to it! I love to keep a look edgy by mixing feminine pieces with tougher masculine pieces– such as these leather studded combat boots. It’s unexpected and “toughens” the look up, making it perfect for downtown Manhattan. I completed the look with my favorite cat-eye sunglasses, and my trusty silver embossed leather Rochas bucket bag!

Hope everyone has a fantastic weekend!

Colorblock Pleated Mini Dress & PVC-Trimmed Ankle Strap Heels

I can’t believe it’s the last official week of summer! I can’t wait to wear this colorblock pleated mini dress on Thursday night in Denver for a friend’s bridal shower! I wore it last weekend with new PVC-trimmed heels (trend alert!) and a gold crescent necklace (trend alert!). Hope everyone has fun Labor Day Weekend plans!

France Part 5, St. Tropez: Pom Pom Embroidered Turquoise Dress

Writing this post is bittersweet, as it was exactly one month ago to the day that Gwen and I were in St. Tropez living our best lives! I visited St. Tropez for the first time when I was 17 with one of my best friends from high school (Katalin!) so this trip brought back a lot of good memories for me. We loved exploring the cute shops in town, eating Tropezienne dessert overlooking the yachts in the harbor, and of course– the pool parties at the day clubs! We had a blast at a club that I remembered from 12 years ago, called Nikki Beach. They had the most fun pool party! We started our day at the Dior Cafe (who knew there was such a thing). It was pretty extra though- garden dining with umbrellas that spritzed fine mist as you as you ate. All of the food was Dior branded, which was pretty amazing, too!

For the day, I needed an outfit that could take me from breakfast in the town, to the beach, to the pool parties. I bought this Calypso St. Barth turquoise embroidered pom pom beach cover up a few years ago, and had been waiting for the most special occasion to wear it. I love the gorgeous beading and the big silky tassels. The pom poms are so fun and beachy, too! I wore the dress over a classic black string bikini, and completed the look with my big sunglasses and Panama hat. Next time I will need to find cuter shoes than my favorite Reef flip flops!

Trench Coat Season, with Bettye’s “Carly” Pump

I loved this photoshoot with photographer Alex Van and Abbey Liebman’s Bettye “Carly” shoe desigs. Due to the fact that this was a shoe collaboration, I started the styling process with the red ankle strap shoe and built it “up”. I love navy and red together. This dress has an amazing open back too- I love anything with interesting back details! The dress can go from work to play by pairing it with a sweater for the office. I completed this look with a trench coat with black piping details, and feminine touches such as flared and ruffled bell sleeves. I love how polished, sophisticated, and classy this look is, and the red shoes really make the outfit pop (and I love the little tassel detail). This fall, I have been very into wearing jackets draped over my shoulders. It instantly makes an outfit look more chic!

Graduation Party: Baby Blue Cold-Shoulder Dress

I hope everyone had an amazing Memorial Day weekend! Mine was…eventful. Below is the look I wore to my sister’s graduation party on Saturday. This Lush baby blue / sky blue cold shoulder dress (trend alert!) is one of my favorite new pieces. I love how simple the dress is, and the bow details add a nice feminine touch. This dress was a perfect canvas for the brown and gold statement necklace I paired it with. I love pairing colors with neutrals, and brown goes nicely with so many different colors. I finished the look off with the new strappy block-sandals I have been wearing all week since I bought them last week. I was comfortable and could walk easily all weekend long.

Happy Summer!

Banquet at The Drake: Long Sleeved Lace LBD

If you follow me on social media, by now you probably are well aware that I am in Chicago to celebrate my sister’s graduation from medical school. There is not a shortage of parties this weekend requiring some fun outfits. Below is the long sleeved lace little black dress (LBD) that I wore to her banquet at The Drake Hotel on Thursday evening. I love the intricate lace and the ruffle across the chest- a nice feminine detail. I have also been really into higher collared pieces lately as well, this dress’s neckline is almost like a faux turtleneck! I paired the look with simple pearl and crystal dangly earrings, which I borrowed from my Mom, and some old nude strappy heels.

Graduation Guest: Jeweled Shift Dress

My sister graduated from medical school today (so proud!) and the below are a few pics of the outfit I wore to the graduation. I chose this kelly green shift dress because it’s springy, conservative for a family-friendly event, festive, and a shift dress that can be worn from work to a cocktail party. I love the jeweled studded design that decorates the front of this dress. Green is one of my favorite colors to wear. I paired the dress with quiet pink pearl dangly earrings, and new favorite shoes I will be wearing all summer: block-heeled strappy sandals (trend alert)!

Spring Trends: Overall Dresses & Mules

Two trend trains I have hopped on board with this spring are overall dresses and mules (slides). I saw this white denim overall dress at Forever21 and had to scoop it up, I like that it’s a play on last season’s overall shorts, and I love the copper buttons down the middle. I also picked up this olive green (one of my favorite colors to wear) bodysuit! It is the first body suit that I have ever purchased, and I like that it has long sleeves, and it’s very functional for pairing with any sort of overalls so that your shirt doesn’t ride up! I completed this look with a shoe you will see me wearing all spring (and another trend alert): mules! I love the pearl detailing on these ones, and they are so comfortable and easy to wear. So happy that spring is finally here and I can wear these fun spring pieces!

How do you feel about overall dresses and mules?
