Fall Transition Look: Feminine Floral Pleats & Edgy Leather Accessories

Is there anything better than an October Saturday morning stroll in Soho? Not in my book! One of my best friends, Nicky, and I went for a walk this morning and the fall festive decorations were in full swing. There were so many gorgeous pumpkins everywhere! It is still warm enough to get away without wearing a jacket, so I opted for this beautiful drop-waist floral pleated dress. I love that this dress has a navy base color, which makes it very transitional and perfect for fall. I also am a pleat-lover, so was immediately attracted to it! I love to keep a look edgy by mixing feminine pieces with tougher masculine pieces– such as these leather studded combat boots. It’s unexpected and “toughens” the look up, making it perfect for downtown Manhattan. I completed the look with my favorite cat-eye sunglasses, and my trusty silver embossed leather Rochas bucket bag!

Hope everyone has a fantastic weekend!

Fall Transition Look: Dove Gray Draped Jacket

Even though it’s October, it was still 80 degrees today in NYC! This makes it a little bit confusing when dressing. When the weather transitions from summer to fall, warm to cool, I like to ease the transition with a sundress and layer a leather jacket over my shoulders. Leather jackets are super versatile, and I think that they are closet staples. I like the way they look so effortlessly chic when they are draped over your shoulders. I love the color of this faux leather dove gray jacket. I layered the jacket over a floral pleated racerback mini dress. I completed the look with two trending accessories: pearl block heel sandals (trend alert!) and slanted cat-eye sunglasses (trend alert)!

Indian Summer: Printed Maxi Skirt, Tank, and Shell Statement Earrings

This weekend was GORGEOUS in NYC. Sunny and breezy, with very little humidity. It was one of the nicest days we have had all summer. Maxi skirts will always have a special place in my heart after living in conservative Norhteastern Thailand, as I wore a lot of them to the school I taught at. My friend Nicky and I saw this button-up one at Anthropologie the other week and I fell in love with it. I love the Provence-style yellow and blue print—and the whimsical yellow tulips! I kept the look simple and late-summery with a black cloth button-front tank (thanks to my sister Dara for gifting this to me! I also got it in crème 😊) and gold and pearl big shell earrings. Between the tulips and shells, this look was a fun mixture of sophisticated and whimsical.

If you fasted today for Yom Kippur, hope you will be enjoying the break fast soon! Also happy birthday to my dear friend, Helene!

Yellow Floral Halter Dress and Tri-Strap Heels

I love a classic summer sundress, and between the halter strings, tie at the bust, midi length, and floral print on this one it had me swooning! Sundresses are easy to transition into fall by layering with a jean jacket or leather jacket (coming soon!) This dress will pair nicely with many different shoe options depending on the season or occasion: a block heeled sandal for a wedding guest attire look, low booties for a fall casual look, or these faux patent leather heels with three straps for a glam look!

Thanks to my friend Nicky for taking these pictures around the West Village. It almost looks like I live in the brownstone, right?!

Paillette Embroidered Feminine Top

The last weekend of summer has officially passed, but it is still in the 90s in NYC, so I will continue to wear my summer pieces for as long as I can get away with! This Rebecca Taylor top is a few years old, and I love the feminine ruffles and paillette and beading embroidery. I paired it with skinny jeans and my favorite 80’s inspired slingback white and beige kitten heels (trend alert!)

I am en route back from a wedding in Vail, Colorado. Hope everyone had a great holiday!

Wedding Guest Edition: Seafoam Green Lace Dress

I am missing last Sunday’s wedding in Lancaster, Pennsylvania! This is the “dusty sage” (seafoam green) lace dress I wore as a wedding guest. I think that an understated colored lace dress is always a safe bet for a wedding. I love the sexy low back on this one, the spaghetti straps, and the mock halter front. I paired the look with neutral (blush) block-heel sandals with pearl embellishment (trend alert!). I love how these colors blended together. I completed the look with a bright red lip and dangly classic pearl drop earrings.

Only 4 more weddings to go this year!

Floral Sundress & Metallic Gladiators

There is nothing more summery to me than a summer sundress! As soon as I laid my eyes on this bright whimsical floral print, I knew I had to have it. I love the yellow, the drop waist, and the subtle high low hem. I kept this look simple and casual by pairing it with my favorite metallic gladiator lace up sandals. I believe that metallics are the equivalent of neutrals. A sundress, like this one, is a closet staple to me because you can dress it up and down. If I switched into heels this look would be cocktail party ready.

It’s been fall like weather all weekend so far, but that won’t stop me from wearing a few final summer looks! Hope everyone is enjoying their Labor Day holiday!

Floral Neon Sundress, Strappy Platform Sandals, Monogrammed Envelope Clutch

Happy September, everyone! It feels like fall in NYC today, so gorgeous out. I wore this neon floral print dress to a Girl’s Night on Thursday with my friends Jeni and Janel. It is SO bright- you can tell from the pictures, it’s not the lighting. I love the cut of this dress. The front looks like a halter top, which is great for showing off your shoulders, but that back is actually criss-cross (secured with a button, interesting). I paired this pink and white number with black accessories, a monogrammed clutch that was a gift from when I was a bridesmaid in my friend Katie’s wedding, and black platform strappy sandals from my friend Helene (a lot of friends in this post!)

These shoes remind me of a quote I recently heard, and agree with: “I just want to make enough money to afford impractical shoes” 😉

Lace Dress of the Year

The dress of this year, and arguably the brand of this year is Self Portrait’s Azaelea dress (seen in the top pic below). This intricate lace spaghetti strap dress was seen on everyone from celebrities to fashion bloggers. The original dress has a fitted bodice and a girly flared tea-length hem, with a nude slip underneath the lace. This dress can be worn from summer garden parties with open-toe wedges to winter holiday parties with closed-toed pumps. This dress can even be dressed down by being paired with a leather jacket (leather and lace is one of my favorite combos). While red is perfect for the holidays, I’ve seen this dress style available in mint, yellow, baby blue, and white. I actually purchased a white version that I haven’t had a chance to wear yet but I plan to wear it this spring / summer. I’ve selected a few similar red options below (LRD!), at different price points, with the lowest price around $32! Further comparisons can be found here. Now everyone can find an option to jump on this Self Portrait lace dress trend.

Leather & Floral Ruffles

Another edgy downtown look with Tom Naples Photography! Tom and I had so much fun exploring the Lower East Side. We were very inspired by all of the NYC graffiti and the grittiness of the city. Stemming from the first part of our series, I kept my Maje leather jacket. In some of the photographs you can really see the beautiful shoulder stitching. This time I paired the jacket with a tiered floral ruffle dress, and my trusty nude strappy sandals. It’s a little too cold now to wear these sandals! I like the contrast of the tough leather with the feminine dress. To accessorize, I switched things up with my accessory of choice this fall: a choker. I like the delicate gold dangle on the front of this one. Per usual, my ear jackets made the cut.

Enjoy the photographs, I like that you can get a glimpse into our downtown adventure…Tom and I were both obsessed with the heart wall. West 4th Street does Delancey Street!
