Spring Wedding Guest Attire: Polka Dot Dress and Purple Bow Sandals

Exactly one week ago I was wearing this silk off-the-shoulder (trend alert!) blue and white polka dot DVF “Camila” dress and dancing at my best friend Gracie’s wedding in Harrisburg, PA! I am guilty of owning this DVF dress in two colors: blue and white polka dots and fuchsia! I just love the waterfall hem on this dress, it moves so beautifully when you walk. I also love mixing unexpected colors, so I paired the dress with purple satin bow heels. They have a little rhinestone glittery clasp on the side. I accessorized the dress with a sleek headband to accentuate off my collarbones, and a red lip to glam up the look!

I can’t believe that Gracie is married!

Fall Transition Look: Feminine Floral Pleats & Edgy Leather Accessories

Is there anything better than an October Saturday morning stroll in Soho? Not in my book! One of my best friends, Nicky, and I went for a walk this morning and the fall festive decorations were in full swing. There were so many gorgeous pumpkins everywhere! It is still warm enough to get away without wearing a jacket, so I opted for this beautiful drop-waist floral pleated dress. I love that this dress has a navy base color, which makes it very transitional and perfect for fall. I also am a pleat-lover, so was immediately attracted to it! I love to keep a look edgy by mixing feminine pieces with tougher masculine pieces– such as these leather studded combat boots. It’s unexpected and “toughens” the look up, making it perfect for downtown Manhattan. I completed the look with my favorite cat-eye sunglasses, and my trusty silver embossed leather Rochas bucket bag!

Hope everyone has a fantastic weekend!

Out & About in London!

I took a red eye from JFK to London last night and arrived this morning! After meeting one of my best friends, Gracie, at Liverpool Street Station, we headed back to her place to freshen up and then we headed out and about! Gracie lives in Spitlfield, a fun neighborhood in East London. We spent the day walking everywhere. Our itinerary included exploring the Shoreditch neighborhood– which has some amazing shopping and edgy, quaint vibes. Shoreditch feels like Brooklyn a little bit, lots of cool graffiti and interesting shops. We then walked through Borough Market, which was gorgeous and aromatic, and then we checked out the Tate. The Tate rooftop has incredible views of London. It’s been about 19 years since I have been in London, so the Shard and the Gerkin are new for me! We walked back to her place passing through the garden of St. Paul’s Cathedral, and topped off our night with a proper Indian meal at Brasserie on Brick Lane. The weather in London is cool but sunny, so I wore my new favorite black knit cape which has elegant studding, gray skinny jeans, and my absolute favorite comfy Chloe booties which are perfect for walking all day! I love how dark and edgy this look is. The entire look felt fitting for London, especially the cape! I topped off my look with gold aviators. Instant, elegant chic 🙂

Cotton Candy Coat

It’s springtime in February! How glorious has this entire weekend been? This coat was a bit of a trend splurge last fall, which I don’t usually recommend, but it’s just so FUN! Last year’s teddy bear coat has made it to a second season! I wore it out on Friday night, and my girlfriends called it a “Carrie Bradshaw coat”. A few boys told me “your coat is…wonderful” and “your coat looks like cotton candy”. I loved this description so much that it is the new namesake of this post. My boyfriend thinks this coat is silly (re: Man Repeller ha) but I tell him that I make the streets of NYC interesting and fun and give something to delight the people outside! I paired the coat with a favorite pair of gray stretchy skinny jeans, my black Rebecca Minkoff envelope cross-body bag, my go-to tortoise-shell sunnies, and brand new burgundy Chloe moto boots (completely obsessed with these). I love the femininity of the coat, especially when paired with the edgier and more rugged moto boots.

Barbados: Bare feet, Braids, & Bougainvilleas

This weekend’s girls getaway in sunny Barbados was the perfect setting to wear some of my favorite beach pieces. Also, there was a real boardwalk! All white is one of my favorite looks for the beach, it is crisp and clean and feels very luxe! This Rebecca Taylor white tiles embroidery coverup tunic is lightweight and very comfortable. I love the detail of the eyelet lace and mirrored embroidery, the winged arms, and cinched waist. A go-to tunic is a closet staple in my opinion, as they are very versatile and easy to wear and pack. I paired this look with a white fedora, my new black bikini from American Apparel, and cat-eye sunglasses I bought from a street vendor in New York City. I completed the look with a red mani pedi, a side French braid, and bare feet. Enjoy the bougainvilleas, possibly my favorite flower…they remind me of Thailand.

Downtown Glam

It’s Super Bowl Sunday! Is this look too much for a viewing party? (Ha!) I had so much fun pairing this borrowed Vince black, white, and gray fox fur vest with my favorite pleather leggings. The fur is so luscious and big with an extra cozy collar! The leggings are lined with fleece and have adorable side zippers. I glammed up the look with some classic cat-eye sunglasses, purchased on the street in SoHo for five bucks. These studded and jeweled gold capped pumps are also my latest consignment find, and they are so comfortable to wear! I promise there aren’t TOO many more fur vest posts coming, I am a little obsessed with them. They are the warmest and chicest!

Enjoy the final pic in my favorite Nikes- I had to!

Leather Leggings, Quilted Coat & Wedge Sneakers

This Saturday it was chilly but sunny, so I wore my favorite practical fall coat that I could get away with. It’s black, quilted, has a hood, hits mid-thigh and my favorite part are the thumb loops (very edgy!). I paired my coat with a whimsical DVF reversible black and red lip print scarf, pleather leggings, wedge sneakers, and big sunglasses. I have been crushing on leather pants / leggings for a few months now, and the insides of these ones are fleece! I love the ankle zipper detail, too. The sneakers- I have always liked wedge sneakers. They are very polarizing, people either love them or hate them! I had my eye on these Isabel Marant velcro “downtown” edgy sneakers. The neutral color pairs with nearly everything, and they are very comfortable.

This outfit must have been good luck, because on our walk to SoHo we saw ASAP Rocky!

LBD: Engagement Party

This weekend was the engagement party of two of my close friends, Katherine and Nick! They had an amazing rooftop party in Jersey City. I knew that I wanted to wear a Little Black Dress (LBD), as it’s always a safe classic. I picked this lace, one-shouldered one up a few months ago at Intermix- possibly my favorite shop. I paired it with a fun pair of ostrich feather Kate Spade sandals, as the bride and I always loved Kate Spade in college. I like the shade of blue, it really pops. Plus, these shoes were a conversation starter all night- a great way to make new friends. I kept my jewelry simple with this trusty pair of ear jackets. I styled my hair in a side swept part- I lightened the color today, if it looks lighter.

Spring Shoot with Tom Naples Photography

Last Saturday was an absolutely gorgeous, warm, and sunny day in NYC. I had the pleasure of working with a very talented photographer whom I went to college with, Tom Naples, and his equally talented videographer friend, Courtney Norris. We were also joined by our buddy Dan- who did an excellent job snapping some iPhone pics. I am very proud to have collaborated with such gifted artists. Tom took the below shots. Our plan was to head to the Brooklyn bridge, but it turned out that about a million (maybe that’s an exaggeration, although it is New York!) other people had the same idea. We floated around the court house and had a blast. I styled this Rebecca Minkoff soft pink off-the shoulder (trend alert!) ombre dress with some cat-eye sunglasses I bought from a Soho street vendor, and my favorite sparkly-soled pumps. I also picked up this gold-pearl accent collar (another trend alert!) It’s edgy, and it looks great with any dress or top that is off-the-shoulder or strapless.

I highly encourage you to check out Tom Naples work at www.thomasnaples.com. Instagram handle @tomnaplesphoto. Better yet, book him! He offers all kinds of photography services for different occasions- and he is a gem to work with.

More to come- we shot two looks, and Courtney’s video is coming soon…

Earth Day Collaboration with Second Time Around (STA)

In honor of Earth Day, today’s post is all about one way we can  reduce our carbon footprint. Luckily for me, my favorite consignment store, Second Time Around, has locations throughout Manhattan where I find my favorite designers at a discount from the retail cost. I have shopped and consigned at many of New York’s STAs, in addition to locations in Boston, Philadelphia and Chicago. When I shop at Second Time Around I am supporting the environmentally-friendly concept of reusing clothing, it’s less expensive than designer retail, and personally I think it is super fun to sort through the racks. No two treasures are the same!

Shopping aside, Second Time Around is a also a fantastic place to consign your gently used (and loved) designer duds. I have been consigning clothing and accessories at Second Time Around for years. You simply can’t keep getting new things without exchanging some old ones. Also, my NYC closet cannot only accommodate new purchases! When I consign, it is like a trade. First I clean out my closet, usually during transition seasons. Then I head over to STA with the items that have served their due time with me. I either get cash or a store credit for the items I consign (which goes FAST if I hang in the store for too long!) I love sorting through the neatly sorted racks of amazing designer-everything. Without fail, I always find an “I can’t live without it” piece.

The images below are a few of my favorite items that I have purchased at Second Time Around boutiques throughout the country. I especially love the periwinkle Jill Stuart dress and the Kate Spade ostrich feather peep-toe heels.

Check out Second Time Around’s website, and make sure that the next time you are thinking of going shopping, you consider shopping second hand.
