I have had the best Memorial Day Weekend being back in NYC and catching up with my core group of friends there. Additionally, I had a Danish and German friend who both were in town, which is what prompted my trip. I recently purchased these Ann Taylor Loft polka dot culottes, and I was ecstatic when I found them because I had been looking for a pair just like this… I am a polka dot lover! I also like the length of these pants and the elastic waist (super comfortable and flattering). I paired them with a cloth-button cold-shoulder blouse (trend alert!), Stuart Weitzman Nudist sandals (trend alert!), my trusty heart sunglasses (trend alert!), and a dream item I took out for the first time…my classic Chanel jumbo black caviar-leather gold-hardware flapbag! A classic look to kick off summer in the city 🙂
I know we had one winter snow storm in New York City already, but let’s go back to fall for a second! I am still loving houndstooth for fall, and I have had this coat for almost a decade! It just goes to show you that classics can stick around. I kept the rest of the look really simple: black! I added some feminine touches with my pearl embellished shoes and whimsical heart shaped sunglasses.
I can’t believe it’s Thanksgiving this week already! Also, how gorgeous are these fiery orange trees?!
The second part of this quilted faux leather skirt look is live! This time I made it more “school girl” by pairing it with a silk DVF blouse with a big black detachable pussy bow (trend alert!) and ankle length black lace up booties. I love a dramatic black and white look! I went with a low sleek ponytail, a dark berry lip by Stila, and dark nail polish (“Wicked” by Essie). It felt like a very fall shoot, in a few of my favorite West Village spots! I love looking at all of the West Village homes that have been decorated for Halloween.
Another Halloween inspired post to come! It will be a fun one…
One of my favorite closet staple pieces and the first part in a two part series is about this black faux leather quilted skirt! I got this skirt about 7 years ago (when I was still in college!) and it’s been such a versatile piece in my wardrobe. In my blog moving forward, I am going to try to focus more on sustainable fashion and styling the same piece multiple ways. I love an all black look (c’mon, I’m a New Yorker). I kept it interesting with embroidered booties (trend alert) that are one of my favorite fall accessories! I love the gold embroidered pattern, the chunky block heel, and the height of these booties. I accessorized with my favorite gold watch, gold delicate star necklace and whimsical black heart sunglasses!

Last Thursday night I attended a religious Jewish wedding of one of my closest friends, Elana. The wedding was held in Staten Island at 4pm (to not overlap with Shabbat), so I took the day off and really pampered myself. I got my hair done in the morning- trying a new split end removal technique that I was skeptical about but actually really worked! These “clamps” that kind of look like a straightening iron are pulled through your hair, and it only removes the split ends. Then I had a dusting cut at the end to even everything out. My hair stylist, Anita, also put in amazing hair extensions that I bought from The Hair Shop. The color match was perfect, and I felt glamorous the whole night. The Hair Repair Bar just opened on Bleecker Street around the corner from my apartment, so that made things extra convenient, too!
At an Orthodox wedding, I knew I had to dress conservatively. This meant no cleavage, no shoulders, nothing skin tight. I found this sophisticated Marni black dress a few weeks back and I loved the dramatic draped hemline. (It reminded me of a dress Meghan Markle might wear!) However, I did opt to pair the dress with sexy guinea feather strappy sandals by Stuart Weitzman. I completed the look with a bright red lip and gold accessories.
The wedding was super fun. I loved seeing the bride Elana, my friends from Poland, and the acrobat entertainment! Mazel Tov, Elana and Alex!
This weekend I attended the wedding of two of my good family friends, Erika and Doug. It was a beautiful wedding in Chicago! I picked up this Badgley Mischka colorblock eyelet dress last week just for the occasion. I loved that the neckline is a sort of faux-halter, and the blue eyelet is so intricate and pretty. I paired the dress with ankle-strap heels, which I have had for 10 years since I was a freshman in college! I love these shoes because they are elegant, and the heel is not too tall so they are pretty comfortable. I kept the look feminine and preppy with black tassel statement earrings, and a woven flower clutch.
I will miss Chicago, but excited for my next stop this week…Amsterdam!
It’s spring! Or supposed to be 🙂 It’s still been chilly in New York, but the daffodils are blooming and the days are getting lighter which makes me happy. One of my favorite colors for spring is mint green. This color was particularly popular about 5 years ago, when peter-pan collars were making a comeback too. I love this embellished peter-pan collar to add a little sparkle to the blouse. I kept the rest of the look very New York– all black! I wore versatile black booties to complete the look. I have had these since my freshman year in college…which was 10 years ago! Today, it’s a work-ready look.

I just returned from a trip to Cancun, Mexico with my Mom, and we had a blast! My trip was cut one day short due to a big snow storm in New York, but we had perfect weather the entire time. I brought a few different “Mexico inspired” looks to shoot, but we were having so much fun that we only made it around to shooting this one. I paired this black pleated Swiss-dot popover dress with this fun pom pom straw tote bag (a trend I am still loving from last year), which was perfect as a beach bag, too. I got complements on this tote from everyone from the pilot and flight attendants on my plane, to couples sitting next to us poolside. I like the bright cheerful colors and also how fun and whimsical it is. I kept the look easy breezy with classic gold-rimmed aviator sunglasses.
I highly recommend visiting Cancun if you have never been. There are gorgeous Mayan ruins to explore, and beautiful deep swimming holes called cenotes to jump in. I would go back any time.
Thanks to my Mom for taking my pictures!
The weather has been so up and down in New York lately. It was almost 80 degrees earlier this week, and now it is cold again. I paired an almost all-black look together the other day, with a few of my favorite recent trends: balloon sleeves (bubble sleeves) and pearl-embellished shoes. This cashmere sweater is by Magaschoni, and I was particularly drawn to it because of it’s unique interpretation of this season’s balloon sleeve (trend alert!). I love that the balloon sleeve detail is more of a bubble at the elbow…Snow White style! I kept the look simple with black leggings, and black sandals with pearl embellishments (trend alert). I loved these sandals so much, that I also bought them in a blush-nude hue, too! My bright blue nails are the finishing touch, I had so much fun with them. The color is “Butler Please” by Essie.
I hope this blog post publishes! I have been having a lot of issues with my blog posting and emailing my subscribers, so thank you for bearing with me! I had so much fun shooting this sophisticated all black look the other weekend when it was slightly warmer. I decided to go for bigger hair and bright blue nails (Essie “Butler Please”) to complement this all black look (how New York…). I recently swooned over the black belted vest at Zara. I paired it with Halogen black leather peep-toe booties that are SEVEN years old. I love the zipper and quilting detail on them. I felt very edgy, downtown, and vampy during this shoot! Thanks Nicky for taking these pics!!
