Fall Uniform

This weekend I went up to Sleepy Hollow for a very spooky weekend! Highlights included staying at the castle-like Tarrytown House and exploring the Sleepy Hollow Cemetery- which came complete with a headless horseman riding around! I packed my “fall uniform”: a nautical-inspired skinny striped black and white long sleeve shirt, a new burgundy quilted vest (burgundy is my favorite color this fall), black denim, and my favorite red zipper-back riding boots. A light vest like this one is great for transitional fall weather like we have been having in New York. This outfit is classic, cozy, and comfortable! Thanks to Daniel for the pics 🙂

Happy Halloween everyone!

Bell Sleeves

Bell sleeves are one of my favorite trends this fall. Also referred to as “fluted” or “flared” sleeves, they have a very hippie, bohemian vibe. However, I love that they can be sophisticated depending on the cut of the piece. The lace blouse below from Ann Taylor is great for work, and almost feels Victorian. The Parker double-bell sleeve (or bell sleeve with a ruffle) dress beneath it is the same dress that I wore in my last post! It’s also fun to see bell sleeves being combined with other trends from the season- like lace-up and off-the-shoulder tops. I remember bell sleeves being trendy when I was in about third grade- Limited2 had some great ones! I am happy that they are making a comeback.

Welcome back, bell sleeves!

OTK Boots & Bell Sleeves

My favorite thing about fall is fall fashion, if you don’t count candy corn. This fall, there are a few trends that I am loving: OTK (over the knee) boots and bell sleeves. OTK boots are very bold, and I wasn’t sure if I could pull them off. I have found that I love pairing them with mini dresses, like this Parker mini with ruffled bell sleeves. I love the ivory color and the beautiful cloth buttons. One of my best friends, Alex, completed the hippie-chic, boho inspired look with milkmaid braids and dreamy fall makeup. We shot the photos from this post in Lincoln Center, which was really fun even though it was rainy. If you need someone to do your makeup, let me know and I will put you in touch with Alex. She is the absolute best and can work with pretty much any type of makeup (you should see how many makeup brushes she owns!) Also, if you are thinking about getting OTK boots, get them.

LBD: Engagement Party

You can never have enough LBDs! This dress is one of my absolute favorites. I love how simple and sophisticated it is…plus I will wear pretty much anything with ostrich feathers! The high collar is elegant, and nicely complements the deeper dip in the V-neck back. I paired this dress with one of my favorite pairs of Brian Atwood glittery heels, complete with peep-toes and ankle straps. I wore this dress to an engagement party, and as with most LBDs, they are classic closet staples that are very versatile. They speak strongly without being loud. Ladies at the engagement party, and during our shoot, complemented the heels. All photography was taken at the Highline by my talented friend Tom! Check out his work and book him at Tom Naples Photography. I also had an Agave Smoothing treatment and blowout from the Damian West Salon in the West Village. It was the first time I had this treatment and the results were great. I’ve linked everything at the bottom of this post!

Embroidered Statement Dress

At long last, here is a post from one of my favorite shoots earlier this summer with Tom Naples Photography. I purchased this Alice & Olivia dress for a benefit, and I love the flower embroidery so much. Floral embroidery was definitely on trend this summer, and I love how feminine it is. This dress is exquisite and unlike any other piece I own. We shot in New York’s Meatpacking District and it was one of the hottest days of the summer (for those of you who were here to remember it!) I highly recommend you book Tom for all of your photography needs- he is incredibly talented and has an amazing eye. It was his idea to shoot near the highline.

I kept this look simple, as the dress has so much detail, pairing it with my favorite Brian Atwood Labrea stilettos. I call these strappy sandals a “barely there” shoe, and I consider having at least one pair as a closet staple. You can shop this look from the links beneath the post.
