Lace Shift Dress

I had so much fun styling and shooting this vintage-inspired look in the West Village. I paired a mini lace shift dress (also a LWD!) with nude strappy sandals, funky sunglasses, and my new Lulu Guinness snakeskin lip clutch. Shift dresses are great because they are so versatile. I dressed this one up with heels, and I could also pair it with flats and a cross-body bag for a more casual look. This lace shift dress is perfect for brunch, a date, you name it. I particularly liked it because of the bigger lace printed flowers. They remind me of doilies! My friend Alex styled my hair, and it kind of reminds me of a Farrah Fawcett inspired look. We also went for a bright pink lip. It was fun to switch up my hair and makeup from my usual styling. This whole look costs under $100. Except for the lip clutch 🙂

I have had my eye on one of Lulu Guinness’ fun and whimsical classic lip clutches for some time now. I finally pulled the plug. It also doesn’t hurt that she has a boutique on Bleecker Street that I walk past all of the time.

As for the shoot, I am in a stoop phase. Enjoy the pics!

Fuchsia Halter Dress with Nude Strappy Sandals

I recently picked up this fuchsia halter dress and I love how bold and cheerful the color is. I also like that the silhouette is simple, but the high halter draws  your eye up. I have previously paired this dress down for a summer day downtown with a straw hat and gladiators, but I went for a more elegant look below. I dressed it up with accessories to pass for a cocktail dress- styling it with nude / blush strappy sandals, a snakeskin envelope clutch, and an updo. The strappy sandals shown in the photos below are one of my favorite pairs of sexy, versatile summer shoes. Also, they are very comfortable and easy to walk in. Stuart Weitzman also makes a similar pair, although they are about five times as expensive! We only have a few weeks of summer left to wear fabulous red pedicures, but I love dark nail polish. On my toes are my favorite color, Essie’s “Wicked”. I wear this color all fall!

Hair and makeup are by my friend Alex. Please reach out to me if you want to book her, she is the best. We had so much fun shooting in new locations in the West Village.

Desert Chic

Last week I traveled to Jordan with about 35 of my favorite colleagues. Our team worked with a local non-profit organization in Amman to help Jordanian youth become more involved with civic engagement. The trip was extremely meaningful and we had so much fun in the desert. Highlights of the trip included the Dead Sea (I’ve been on the Israeli side and this was my first time on the Jordanian side), sleeping in a magical and remote Bedouin campsite and staying up all night, tasting sweet cactus fruit for the first time, and of course, PETRA. Petra was spectacular.

Covering up in the 100 degree heat is extremely important. It’s also important to be covered as a woman to respect the culture in Jordan. This post isn’t too fashion-y, mainly travel pics, but I did swear by my light weight linen pants (a closet staple), black scarf, and my “Dead Sea Fishing Club” (get the joke?) hat that I wore every day.

Enjoy the pictures! Back to regular posts this week. Stay tuned- this weekend we had an amazing shoot!
