Rainbow Fish

It’s safe to say that June 2015 has been filled with amazing weekends. The first weekend my Mom visited me in New York, followed by a beach escape in Rhode Island with girlfriends, and last weekend I flew to Oregon for one of my best friend’s (and family friends!) wedding. Oregon is one of my favorite states. Landing in Portland, is well, very special. If you haven’t been, I highly recommend checking it out. The people are amazing, the views are spectacular (just look at the clouds in the pics below), and the food is the best there is.

My friend Mariah got married in an outdoor ceremony and reception at her parents’ house. It was stunning. An arbor covered with roses framed Mount Hood when they were at the front of the aisle saying their “I dos”. One of the family dogs, the sweet and gentle Johnny Cash, was the ring bearer. The weather could not have been more perfect. The below look is from the rehearsal dinner on Friday night. I wore a one-shoulder Tibi dress with “rainbow fish” inspired paillettes. (Thanks Bridgette for the reference!) Product links listed at the bottom of this page.

Enjoy the pictures. Go to Oregon!

Newport Weekend

This past weekend, four girlfriends and I traveled to Newport, Rhode Island. Newport is a place I have wanted to visit ever since I read Edith Wharton’s “Age of Innocence” in high school. I assumed it would be grand and charming, and it was all of those things plus more. Today’s Newport is a quaint New England town with many National Historic homes. There are also the mansions- which are really more like palaces. They are sprawling, and “grand” does not begin to describe them. We toured the Vanderbilt family home, “The Breakers”, named after the waves that would crash onto the cliffs just outside the home. Oh, and these were just summer homes. Newport is also home to some amazing food and nightlife. We ran into many bachelor / bachelorette parties, and even more weddings on Saturday. We walked the gorgeous Cliff Walk, we visited Second Beach, and we grabbed honorary drinks at the famous Castle Hill lawn. There was something so luxurious about drinking a blueberry vodka lemonade as we watched the ships sail by.

For the weekend getaway, I wanted to dress like it. I had a feeling that Newport would be preppy, similar to Nantucket (another favorite), so I packed my “uniform”. Jack Roger sandals, a simple Tory Burch dress, Ray Ban aviators, and my favorite Panama hat. The look was versatile, comfortable, low-key, and I felt very relaxed. When I travel, I like to “blend” in my outfit to match the location. It’s fun!

Enjoy the pics from highlights of our trip!

Pink & Gold

Last week I attended the Glamour in the City benefit, hosted by one of my close friends from college. I’ve gone every June since moving to NYC, so now it’s pretty much a tradition! GlamourGals supports volunteers who provide ongoing companionship and complimentary beauty makeovers to women living in senior homes. The dress code for the event was…pink. I don’t own that much pink, but I have been waiting to wear the below wispy chiffon ABS by Allen Schwartz dress for quite some time now. The event provided the perfect opportunity to take the frock out on the town! I paired it with my new glittering gold Jimmy Choo wedges. These shoes are so comfortable, and surprisingly, pair well with a lot. Before C. Wonder closed its doors a few months ago, I scooped up some vintage-inspired jewelry. The delicate black and white earrings and bracelet in these pics looked pretty with the pink chiffon. I wore my hair down, but slightly tamed with a skinny black headband.

Thank goodness it’s summer! June is one of my favorite months.

Boho Chic for New York Mag’s Vulture Festival

Happy June! This Sunday I attended New York Magazine’s Vulture Festival with a friend. I heard some incredible speakers and stories from entrepreneurs, bloggers and celebrity stylists. Highlights were hearing 19 year old Tavi Gevinson and Lady Gaga’s stylist, Brandon Maxwell. The festival was held in the Meatpacking District at Milk Studios (I know it well from taking some classes there last summer!) Meatpacking always has a downtown edgy vibe. Also, it was a very hot day…before these past 3 days of pure gloom! I decided to go for a bohemian look, pairing a white flowing spaghetti strap dress with a new leather fringe bag I picked up in Nicaragua last week, layered necklaces and jewelry, new pink mirrored Ray Bans (I can’t get enough of mirrored sunnies these days), and most importantly, comfortable flats by one of my favorite shoe brands- Eurosoft. I walked to the festival from my apartment in the West Village, so comfy sandals are a must!

What do you think of my purple mani-pedi?
